Learn why your fleet needs to complement telematics with Active Vehicle Management
We recently hosted a webinar with Fleet Equipment Magazine, as part of their TelematicsTalk series, where we got to share ways fleet managers can find the perfect combination between collecting data and turning that data into action with Active Vehicle Management (AVM).
This complementary relationship provides fleet managers with the data they need to make smarter decisions about their operations, but also enforces change through the fleet vehicle instead of through the drivers. We all know that the driver’s choices have impacts on the safety, fuel economy, and cost efficiency of the fleet but we need to have that data to know if our changes are working. After all, as our CTO, Marco Della Torre, said in the webinar, “If you don’t measure it, you can’t manage it.”
In today’s fleets, we see use of telematics software, fuel cards, and in-cab video systems, but each of these technologies has pros and cons – such as relying on driver training to see results, inaccurate data or fraudulent data (looking at you, fuel cards), and a large investment into technology that makes drivers uncomfortable.
Reap the benefits of these technologies in your fleet but also rely on one of the biggest pieces of technology in your fleet to make the change: the vehicle’s engine. By upgrading the software to make it mission-specific, you can improve safety and lower costs.
During the webinar, we polled the attendees and found the top three goals for this year included:
- Improving fleet vehicle performance
- Reducing operating costs
- Increasing driver safety
All of these goals can be achieved through AVM. Interested in learning more? Watch the replay at fleetequipmentmag.com/webinars and click the “On-Demand Webinars” tab and look for “Make Your Fleet Safer and More Efficient with Simple Vehicle Software Upgrades.”
Thanks again to the Fleet Equipment Mag team and David, the moderator, for the opportunity talk telematics and AVM.
